The project

The client reached us with the idea to create a travel platform that would unite traveling, tourism with social impact, serving as a bridge between voyagers and NGOS. He saw the difficulty of the NGOs to be access and be seen, many of them had zero online presence and knowing how beautiful his country, Portugal is, he saw an opportunity to make a platform that could benefits the local tourism and have an social impact through NGOs. The goal: Giving the voyager access to the whole experience first hand. What’s the GUV Experience? It’s a whole process that includes meals, accommodation, events, orientation about the program and access to the local NGOs, the ideia was the voyager to have access to all this information with one app. But he wanted more than a simple platform, he wanted engagement from the voyagers, the client wanted that the voyagers would relate to the app to have a more complete experience.

So… how we achieve engagement? One word: Gamification

Our team proposed a difference solution, something “out of the box”. Make the platform a game. Yes, you read right, a game. Our design team started working on the mockups to make the concept visual and our client was thrilled. We immediately started to build this idea into reality. Firstly, with the website and then the app itself, which was the real challenge of this project, how to make everything work in alignment and with enough structure and coherence to be a truly wonderful experience for the user.

Technologies

We now have a website that showcases the project and guides voyagers to download the app and engage with it. The app itself was inspired by pixel games and each voyager has acess to a number of customizable options to create their own avatar, which they will use “inside” the app. Then they choose the sustainable development goals they can identify with the most to understand which programs they want to be a part you, simplifying their experience. All subscription fees and payments are made on the app along with all information about his experience in the program: meals, accomodation, events, orientation about the program itself and acess to the local NGO/s.

The main goal was to have a simple, yet catchy app and we deliver exactly that.
